ABOUT HJ
HJ {Heather Jane} Farr began acting on stage at the age of five (although they had arguably been performing as far back as in-utero), and continued to perform throughout Cleveland, appearing with the Beck Center for the Arts, Great Lakes Theater, Magical Theatre Company, Cain Park Theater, Mercury Summer Stock, Kalliope Stage, among others. From portraying Anne Frank in The Diary of Anne Frank three different times to belting out show stopping numbers in Smokey Joe’s Café, HJ cultivated a diverse repertoire of roles and shows.
After a year at Ithaca College, HJ took a year off to take extracurricular classes at Oberlin College and fall in love with aerial circus and film acting. They finished their education in Canada with Sheridan College’s Music Theatre Performance Program, graduating with honours, while taking extra film classes at Armstrong Acting Studios. They met the love of their life back at Oberlin College, where the two eventually got married. HJ and Kip moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 2014 where HJ was able to fulfill their dream of learning the aerial circus arts!
HJ served as the President of the Board of Broom Street Theater for two years, where they performed, directed, and rigged for aerial arts. They have also acted with Strollers Theatre LTD., StageQ, Madison Theatre Guild, Encore Studio for the Performing Arts, TheatreLILA, as well as various student/independent film companies. They have trained and performed with Madison Circus Space and Cycropia Aerial Dance.
Through their time at Broom Street Theater, HJ originated many roles, one of which guided them to question their previously held beliefs about their own gender identity. HJ came out as genderqueer in 2016 and has since performed roles written for many genders!
In late 2019, HJ and Kip moved from Madison, Wisconsin to New York City, where HJ continues to take circus classes and audition, and even started working in voiceover and writing poetry!
